best rideshare/carpooling website..

Hi,

So, I've lived in the states all my life... so this is sad that I have to ask this. Where can I find a rideshare or carpooling website for students preferably? What is the best site, whether it's for the U.S., Canada, or worldwide? Yes, I know about couchsurfing, matador, and of course lonely planet. couchsurfing barely has any response half the time and no one is on matador. I'm looking for something that a lot of people use so I don't have to post ads on 20 different sites or is there even one like this? I've heard of travbuddy.com, any reviews? Thanks for reading, any positive advice would be most appreciated!
