Europe's most anticipated winter sports event of the year is officially over! 300 of the world's best snowboarders and freeskiers came to the Swiss Alps to open the competition season in style. The unique freestyle facilities, an innovative slopestyle course and the superpipe offer perfect conditions for the superstars on freestyle snowboards and skis.

In the Slopestyle Freeski Men competition Birk Ruud from Norway, current Olympic Big Air champion and Slopestyle World champion took home the gold medal. Swiss local hero Mathilde Gremaud, current World & Olympic Slopestyle champion, wins the women Freeski competition.

After 2019 and 2020, Australian Scotty James once again took the win this year, wowing spectators with his stylish halfpipe run. Valentino Guseli (AUS) landed in second place, making a world premiere with a frontside 1620. Japan’s Ruka Hirano completes the podium in third place. In the women’s event, last year’s winner Mitsuki Ono from Japan won with 81.75 points. The young American Bea Kim and Ruki Tomita (JPN) completing the podium in second and third place.

The twenty finalists showed progressive runs at this first FIS Snowboard World Cup of the season. Tricks such as cab double 9 on the shark fins, back to back 1620s on kickers, backside 5 in the quarter. US rider Julia Marino, who also won the LAAX OPEN in 2020, mastered the seven features best in the women's category. Annika Morgan from Germany came in second place. The final event of the FWT23 season is just moments away, as athletes fine-tune their preparations for the most well-known freeride competition around the world: the YETI Xtreme Verbier. The venue, as always, is the iconic Bec des Rosses, where the Freeride World Tour was born, and still calls home. This face offers brave athletes 450 vertical meters of intimidating terrain, with steeps exceeding 50 degrees in an intricate maze of technical features. Jonathan Penfield kept his consistent season alive with a fluid line to take the win. He aired into the approach of the Hoisl cliff, before taking a cross-court transfer at high speed. Jonathan then packed the lower section with clean airs and rode out to victory.

Arianna Tricomi claimed back what she has become accustomed to over the years, first place in an FWT event. She showed her true freeride skills up top, accelerating into an extremely technical zone with pace and confidence, and linked this with a trademark 360 in the lower section.

Andrew Pollard delivered a fluid run from top to bottom, starting with a cross-court 360 at pace above the Hoisl cliff, before sending it deep off the nose. He linked this with multiple features – including another 360 and some huge airs – to finish first. Maxime Chabloz completed an exhilarating run, full of high-speed tricks on the edge, to claim second, with Oscar Mandin finishing in third.

The Freeride World Tour 2023 has its fourth stop in Fieberbrunn, Austria - as always with the best freeriders from all over the world! The first part of the FWT finals takes place in Fieberbrunn, where the athletes have to conquer the imposing Wildseeloder. This mountain is a real test of endurance even for the most experienced pros, and the athletes will certainly have to give it all.
